Leisure Radios (Not suitable for business users)

Unlicenced Business Radios

Here at Crystal Radio Systems we’ve been supplying walkie-talkies since the 90s. Although we’re based in the Midlands we have customers from across the UK. We can supply most types of radio equipment commonly used in the UK and can advise on the best equipment for your needs, at a price that’s within budget.

We aim to respond promptly to enquiries so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want something you don't see straight away, or if you need advice. We invite you to read some walkie talkie reviews or browse our FAQ to find out all about us. But for the meantime here’s a little overview of the different types of walkie talkie or portable two-way radio that we offer. We also offer a wide range of walkie talkie accessories, such as spare batteries, to complement your purchase.

Leisure Radios

Although mobile phone coverage is incredibly good it has one big disadvantage – it only really covers areas where people live. If you want to get out and about in the great outdoors, whilst staying in touch with the rest of your party, a mobile phone simply won’t do.

What will fill the gap is a walkie-talkie. Ideal for camping, walking, skiing, canoeing and other pursuits where you want to be able to reach your base camp. With ranges measured in kilometres a set of two way radios can be a vital part of your safety equipment.

Most are sold in packs of two but many systems can cope with several handsets, provided they are all set to use the same frequency. This means you can add more handsets if you find you need them.

Business Two-Way Radio Systems

If your business involves needing to contact members of staff wherever on site they may be then a business standard two-way radio system could be just what you are looking for.

The biggest choice for businesses is whether they need a licenced or unlicensed system.

Licenced radios offer greater power and are useful for multi-site or mobile operations such as construction or taxi firms.

Unlicensed two-way radio – by which we mean equipment that doesn’t require a licence – has a shorter range and fewer channels available. They are quick and easy to set up which makes them ideal for single-site businesses where keeping in touch is necessary but long conversations are not – such as shops where a manager or cleaner can be easily summoned through their handset.

Both licenced and unlicensed systems are easily portable and have options that are fully waterproof, drop and shock resistant and that offer hands-free operation with comfortable earpieces for long-term use.

Digital Radios

Both leisure and business users can benefit from the latest digital technology. Most handsets can operate in analogue mode allowing them to co-exist with existing equipment. This means the costs of migration can be spread over a longer period of time. Digital two-way walkie-talkies offer better sound quality, longer battery life, emergency alert buttons and some models can even send text messages.

Used Radio Equipment

Quality equipment, like we supply, can last a lifetime, which means if your dreams are bigger than your budget there’s a healthy used radio market. It can work out cheaper to buy a used set than to hire it, even if you only need it for a short time.

As you can see, here at Crystal, we have all your walkie-talkies and two-way radio needs covered. Why not browse the site or get in touch to find just what you need.
